No, interested participants must form teams of 3-5 members for registration. Every member must meet the entry criteria for the team to be eligible.

No, it is not a requirement for participants to have any programming/coding experience or STEM background to join.

Yes, team members can be from the same or different academic institutions, courses of study, and education levels.

HTX interns are eligible to participate if you declare your internship status in the registration form under the relevant section.

Employees of HTX, Microsoft or SUTD are not eligible to participate.

Yes, we welcome past HacX! participants to take part again. Just indicate your prior participation when filling up the registration form.

No, each participant can only be registered with 1 team throughout the course of the hackathon.

Registration

Each member in the team needs to submit the following particulars: full name, citizenship, date of birth, gender, email address, contact number, studying/employment status, school (studying in/graduated from), current/highest education level attained, course of study and relevant declaration.

This is to ensure that all members meet the entry criteria and for Organisers' communication with the team. The Organisers may request for members to provide documentary proof of citizenship and/or enrolment/education certificate for verification purposes.

Should your team be shortlisted to participate in the hackathon, your team leader will serve as the main point of contact between the Organisers and your team. This helps to streamline communication on important updates and administrative instructions.

This is to cater for overwhelming responses. Should some Challenge Statements be oversubscribed, knowing each team's ranked preferences will enable the Organisers to allocate the Challenge Statements to each team optimally.

For changes to your team's write-up and/or submission details that affect eligibility criteria, please email the changes to enquiry@hacx.sg before the registration deadline (12 September 2025, 11.59pm).

The registration window opens on 18 August 2025 (Monday) at 12.00am and closes on 12 September 2025 (Friday) at 11.59pm. No late submission will be entertained.

Hackathon

There are 12 Challenge Statements. 5 teams will be shortlisted for each Challenge Statement.

Shortlisted teams will be notified on 26 September 2025 via the team leader's email submitted at registration. Please acknowledge your participation by 29 September 2025, 11.59pm.

Upon confirmation, the Organisers will provide information to kickstart your hackathon journey (e.g. Telegram channel, mentorship, SUTD Makerspace, starter fund, Azure Sandpit, workshops and training).

For teams that are not shortlisted, we will endeavour to inform you by 1 October 2025.

At least 4 members of the team must be physically present. We may consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis, with documentary proof.

Our workshops have limited slots, so we run a pre-registration process to ensure all teams get a fair shot. If you are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, please inform the Organisers in advance. It helps us free up the spot for someone else.

On the pitch day, teams will be judged according to 3 common criteria and 2 category-specific criteria, with equal weightage across each criterion.

The common criteria are: (a) Problem-Solution Fit, (b) Innovation and Creativity, (c) Clarity of Presentation. The category-specific criteria are: for Horizon, (a) Impact Potential, (b) Feasibility of Adoption; for Makers' Zone, (a) Functionality and Build, (b) User-Centric Design and Practicality; for Code Core, (a) Functionality, (b) User-Centric Design and Practicality. You can refer to more details in Rules & Regulations.

Cash prizes will be disbursed by HTX via PayNow to the team leaders after HacX! pitch day. Upon confirmation of the team leaders' details, the processing typically takes 2-3 weeks. Details on Microsoft for Startups benefits will be shared separately with the winning teams.

For any enquiries, please reach out to enquiry@hacx.sg
